NorthShore SouthShore Swap
9-6-2001

The East Troy Electric Railway Museum arranged to swap our Northshore car #761 with one of their SouthShore cars #11. After about a year of coordinating efforts between both museums and the movers, the swap finally happened on Sept.6th, 2001. This my friends was no small task. Below are some pictures of this event.

#11 on M59
Here she is on M59 crossing the Grand Trunk main line.

Backing up double articulated semi is a
challenge but this truck driver had no problems.

A shot of finding a parking place for the night.

Lots of room under here!!

One truck from the North Shore car.

Is this what they mean by "Elevated Rail"?

The North Shore being lowered onto the flat bed.

It's nice when you have the right tools...!!

Just another perspective....

We will miss you........

All photos by Richard Fountain, Thanks.....

We welcome the South Shore car to our museum. It will increase our seating capacity, which will be appreciated greatly on our fall color trips and Santa Trains.

Many thanks to the East Troy folks for making this entirely possible. It was a pleasure for me to work with all the people involved and be part of a pleasant work environment. Many thanks to Big Red, the riggers (the people who disassembled, transported and reassembled these cars). They were a great bunch and did an excellent job. Also, none of this moving around stuff would have been possible at all if it were not for the help of the Marine who operated the big crane for two of the four days we spent doing this.
Thank you..............Dieter Wenzel
